Live from Music Row Friday morning on The Tennessee Star Report with Michael Patrick Leahy – broadcast on Nashville’s Talk Radio 98.3 and 1510 WLAC weekdays from 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. –  host Leahy welcomed Laurie Cardoza-Moore from Proclaiming Justice to the Nations to the newsmaker line to talk about her upcoming event, Taking Back America’s Children for parents to get involved in their local school boards next Friday and Saturday in Franklin.
Leahy: We welcome to our newsmaker line, our good friend Laurie Cardoza-Moore, the CEO and founder of Proclaiming Justice to the Nations.
Laurie, you’ve got a big event coming up next Friday, a week from today and Saturday in Franklin, Tennessee. It’s called Taking Back America’s Children. The Tennessee Summit. You got some great speakers. Tell us about this event.
Moore: Absolutely, Michael. This is just an extension of what we’ve been doing across the country. We had our first summit in Orlando back in February, and we had a great turnout, and a great response from groups like Turning Point USA, Moms for Liberty, which were some of the organizations that had attended.
Basically what we’re doing is that we are working with these top organizations across the country, and we are helping to train their membership on how to flip the school boards, just like we did in Williamson County a decade ago.
And we still have a lot of work to do here in Tennessee, specifically Williamson County. So we’re looking forward. We’re bringing people in from across the country.
Of course, Gary Chapman, a Christian recording artist, is going to be there, speaking about traditional education and why it’s so important. Leadership Institute is coming for training. Tina Griffin. Counterculture Mom is going to be there. And we’re bringing in the infamous Sheriff Mack from Arizona.
And he’s going to talk about our constitutional rights as we go into these meetings. These school board meetings. Because we have seen over the last couple of years since COVID, that parents have been silenced.
Their cameras have been turned off. They’ve been escorted out of the building. Some in handcuffs. This is outrageous that this is going on. We, the people, need to take back local control of our children’s education.
Michael, I’m already getting text messages since school started back up from parents whose kids are getting waivers. They’re signing waivers on what pronoun they want to use.
We still have a problem with pornography, and pornographic content in our children’s school libraries and in our public libraries. So there’s still a lot of work to do, and it’s not going to change unless we, the people, start taking back control.
And it starts with that school board, and that’s what we’re targeting, flipping school boards. Look at the outcome of what’s happened in the state of Florida.
We’ve been working with Governor DeSantis’s Department of Education, actually, since I first spoke with him and showed him the content that was being used in Tennessee textbooks as well as Florida textbooks.
And we worked with him on the civic standards that just came out. Now he’s taking all kinds of heat in Florida. They’re coming after him and falsely accusing him of indoctrinating children. Well, you know what?
The only information that he’s giving to our kids is the truth about America’s history. And so if we want to change, if we want to have the same game plan that we see in Florida executed, it’s important that parents get involved and that they attend this event coming up next Friday night, August 19th and 20th, right here in Franklin.
Leahy: And the way to sign up is go to pjtn.org and you can go right to the event Taking Back America’s Children. It’s going to be kind of an interesting event. Dinner is Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. That’s the event. Dinner is included. And then Saturday is from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
A continental breakfast and box lunch is included. It’s at the Williamson County Enrichment Center. That’s in Franklin. So everybody knows where that is. It’s easy to do, easy to get to.
This is, I think, going to be quite interesting to see what you can learn here locally in Tennessee from all of the various folks that have had some experience in this. Tell us a little bit about what you expect will be the action steps and the areas of focus that people will learn here.
Moore: We just got passed an election and because we’re focused on the school boards now, the focus is on the next school board race. And of course, we’ve got to show people how to take back control of their children’s education.
We launched a strategy about a decade ago in Williamson County because we found an anti-Semitic quote that exposed even more egregious content in the textbooks, anti-American, anti-Judeo-Christian, the values that our nation was founded upon.
And when we started to show parents and citizens what was happening, just like what we’re seeing happen right now, we mobilized them to take action. We went to find parents and citizens who were willing to run for school board and we were able to get all of them elected.
In fact, that year there were six incumbent school board members up for re-election. We flipped all six of them in one election cycle. We were able to change state laws. Again, the impact. Look at what’s happening in Florida with Governor DeSantis.
With Governor DeSantis and his Department of Education, we were able to start teaching children in Florida schools. In fact, they’ll start this fall, they’ll start learning about the role that the Hebrew Bible played in the founding of our nation, the role that it played in the drafting of our founding documents, the role that it played in the structure of our form of government. Our children are not being taught this.
When our children go to school. They’re being taught how to be socialized, and how to pick a pronoun. They’re not being taught academics.
That has got to change, and it’s not going to change until we, the people, moms and dads and local citizens take back control. This is how we take our nation back. We start from the bottom up.
We heard all through this election cycle, we still got November ahead of us, but we’ve heard all through the election cycle it’s about local politics. Well, ladies and gentlemen, it absolutely is.
And if we don’t take back local control and tell our school superintendents and our school board members that we’re not tolerating our children are not going to become your guinea pigs for your socialization. We’re going to teach our children the values we grew up with to make America great again.
Leahy: How would you say that the public schools here in Middle Tennessee, let’s say they’re done pretty much at a county level, although Franklin the city has a special school district.
But you got Williamson County, you got Davidson County, you got Rutherford County, Sumner County, Robertson County, Maury County, Cheatam, and Dickson all separate, independent, separate school districts with separate school boards. What kind of report card would you give the school boards in middle Tennessee as we sit here today, August 12, 2022?
Moore: Rutherford County is surprisingly doing very well, and it’s a county, an up-and-coming county to watch because the people did have their voice heard. But back a decade ago, Michael, we were involved in 50 counties across the state.
We were showing parents and citizens what was approved to teach our kids. And you may recall it’s because of the action that we’ve taken at PJTN that the Speaker of the House appointed me to serve on the textbook commission to be the lightning rod to expose the content that our children are being subjected to.
So we should be looking to Rutherford County. Our next event is after we finish this one in Franklin. The next one is out in San Francisco. We saw the Democrats in San Francisco recall three school board members because those school board members were not interested in teaching their children in San Francisco about academics.
They were trying to socialize their children. They were forcing the children to stay on technology too long during the day. I mean, this is where the high-tech industry kids are going to school in San Francisco, and they were able to flip these school board members.
So the model works. We’ll be going there. We’ll be in Arizona eventually, and then next year, we’ll be looking at Dallas, Ohio, and other states. We are getting phone calls from parents and citizens across the country who are wanting us to come and do this summit to help them, help train them, help equip them to take back local control.
It is the low-hanging fruit. It is the way that we take back our nation. We’re looking at our federal government, and we’re looking at what the tyrannical Biden administration is doing to this country.
And unless we start taking back local control and fighting for our communities, fighting for our children’s future, this is the future of the Republic, ladies, and gentlemen. It’s our children.
And if we allow this to go on, if we allow them to come and continue to indoctrinate our children with this garbage, we will lose our country. We are not going to just sit back.
